Technology

One engine, from atmosphere to asset.

Everything we ship runs on the same chain: first-principles simulation of the atmosphere, measured weather-to-energy data, machine-learning surrogates with honest uncertainty, and deployment on whatever hardware the decision lives on, from an HPC cluster to a device the size of a paperback.

The chain

Method note

The LES layer: resolved, modelled, and not resolved.

Resolution is reported together with its limits. If you are going to rely on a simulation, you should know which physics it actually resolves, which it approximates, and which it does not represent at all.

Nested on the real site

  • Mesoscale at Δx 4.5 to 1.5 km, with LES nests down to Δx 10 to 30 m, driven by reanalysis for the actual site and period.
  • Cell-perturbation forcing at the nest interface, so turbulence spins up within the fetch rather than halfway across the domain.
  • Wave-coupled surface: roughness from wave age rather than a fixed z0, with rotors as actuator lines on a blade-passing-limited time step.

Resolved versus modelled

  • Resolved: energy-containing eddies, shear-layer roll-up, wake meandering, veer and stability-driven structure.
  • Modelled: subgrid stress, the surface layer through a MOST wall model, blade aerodynamics through tabulated polars with tip and root corrections.
  • Not resolved: blade boundary-layer transition, dynamic-stall detail, and wave breaking and spray at cyclone wind speeds.

Validation and cost

  • Verified against mast and lidar profiles, and against SCADA power and load statistics where you hold them.
  • Grid and inflow-realisation sensitivity reported with the result. One realisation is not an answer.
  • Core-hours and turnaround quoted up front, including the cases where an engineering model is the honest choice.
Measured, not asserted

We benchmark in the open.

On a public four-year household dataset with a fully held-out test year, our probabilistic forecasters cut pinball loss by 30 to 60% against seasonal-naive baselines for both active and reactive power, with empirical band coverage of 80.0% against 80% nominal, from a model bundle under 1 MB running in 0.52 ms per forecast on ARM hardware. The full protocol and figures are published.

Open and auditable

Built on tools a reviewer can open.

  • National-lab codebases: the same simulation tools the industry certifies against, not black boxes.
  • Stated protocols: train and test splits, baselines and metrics declared before the claim, never after.
  • Calibration you can check: coverage guarantees a third party can verify against held-out data.
